CLASSIC LATE 50’S TWEED SOUND. Based on 5F10 Circuit.

“Its circuitry is based on two of the most popular Fender tweed amps from the late 1950′s, the tweed deluxe amp, and the Harvard amp. By taking the best features of each and combining them into one, The HD12 is really the perfect tweed style amp for gigs or recording. Lou did an amazing job of researching what made these two amps so special, reproducing the sound, and adding a bit of usable headroom.”

The Louis Electric HD12 circuitry is based on two of the most popular Fender tweed amps from the late 1950’s, the Tweed deluxe amp and the Harvard amp. Guitar players have always sought out these amps in particular for their amazing clarity and tone. By taking the best features of each and combining them into one, the HD12 is really the perfect tweed style amp for gigs or recording.  We added more usable headroom and power to make this a very vintage sounding and practical amp.  The HD12 has a top-mounted design featuring three specific knobs: Bright Volume, Normal Volume, & Tone. There are 4 inputs, two high and two low.

The 5F10 Harvard had a single 6AT6 input tube. The Louis Electric HD12 incorporates the 12AX7 along with the 6AT6 as an additional input. This provides the player with two distinct sounds from the amplifier. Slightly increased gain in addition to the traditional sound.

“Most direct involvement was with Lou when he was building my HD12 and it was a great experience. I didn’t bug him for anything and didn’t need to, as he provided me updates along the way and delivered a beautiful sounding amp a few weeks ago. Before it shipped, he emailed and asked if I wanted 6V6s or 5881s. As I have a bunch of 6V6 amps, I went with the 5881s he recommended. The amp sounds absolutely killer and is everything I had hoped it would be and then some. I would buy from him again in a heartbeat.”
